Where Could a Career in Aviation Take You?

    GUMBO

    GUMBO

    Project Overview:

GUMBO is a workforce development initiative that offers a free curriculum to local colleges to train a workforce to maintain and repair electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE). The initiative will support the growth of electric vehicle charging infrastructure and will provide a path to high-demand credentials, while addressing the urgent need for EVSE maintenance and operations technicians.

Led by Louisiana Clean Fuels, a Clean Cities Coalition based in Baton Rouge, EV charger technician training was developed by Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) with the help of Cerritos College in California and ChargerHelp! Through the rollout, the curriculum has been implemented at BRCC and is now ready to be implemented in other areas of the country, including North Texas. Four modules within the curriculum include Electrical Principles and Safety, Understanding Power Supply, Role Repair Orders and Communication Standards, and Field Practices and Documentation. The GUMBO curriculum also acts as a preparatory course for the SAE International EVSE Technician Certification Exam, a nationally recognized certification for EVSE technicians.

As a partner in this project, Dallas-Fort Worth Clean Cities will engage local community-based organizations, higher education institutions and EVSE maintenance employers to deploy the curriculum in North Texas educational institutions.
